PRI shares the commitment with companies and countries throughout the world placing a high degree of importance on doing whatever is possible to protect our environment for us and generations to come. There are multiple edge banding options that are much more eco-friendly than PVC that has dominated the market for many years. These more ecofriendly products include ABS, Polypropylene (PP), and Polyester/Melamine. Benefits of each of these edge banding types include the following.

ABS Edge Banding:

Quickly becoming the eco-friendly choice in the edge banding as the industry becomes more and more green.
Pricing through PRI for ABS is the most competitive in the market, as PRI presently supplies more ABS edge banding to North America than any other extruder or distributor.
ABS is being specified by architects and the design community for use in healthcare settings and educational community, including schools in the US.
No toxins during proper incineration – during proper combustion only CO2, water, and nitric oxide results.
ABS edge banding can be applied on all of the same edge banding equipment presently used by you to apply PVC. No special glues or hot melts are needed, as you are able to use your current adhesive in your equipment.
Short production lead times
ABS is available to you from several stocking programs PRI offers.
Excellent color matches to most HPL, TFL, and laminates.
Reduced weight, resulting in lower shipping cost.
Available in multiple textures and gloss levels.

PP (Polypropylene) Edge Banding:

Compared to PVC, Polypropylene edge banding offers stable material cost and is the best rigid material for radius applications.
Resistant to most chemicals, superior light fastness and shrinkage propertied, ideal for lab and school applications.
During combustion, PP results only in carbon dioxide and water.
Short production lead times
Excellent color matches to most HPL and TFL
Reduced weight, resulting in lower shipping cost.
Available in multiple textures, gloss levels, widths, and thicknesses
Product can be slit for multi-width requirements.

Polyester Edge Banding:

Polyester edge banding is made with no formaldehyde or styrene during manufacturing.
No formaldehyde or VOC emissions.
Recycled in co-power plants to produce steam and power.
Matches available HPL, TFL, solids, woodgrains, patterns, and laminates.
Multiple textures, gloss levels, widths and thicknesses available.
Product can be slit for multi-width requirements.
Short production lead times and low minimum order requirements.

Technical spec sheets are available on all of the above product categories, along with suggestions for the appropriate glues that can be used for PP banding.
